Renewal of energy audits according to RD 56/2016 in large companies
During 2020, the renewal period of the majority of energy audits carried out on a mandatory basis according to Royal Decree 56/2016 in large companies and business groups expires, having to renew at the latest on 14 November 2020 all those energy audits carried out during 2016 within the terms established by the Royal Decree.
This RD 56/2016, transposition of the European Directive 2012/27/EU, has as its final objective the optimization of energy efficiency and the implementation of an Energy Management System in accordance with ISO 50001:2018.
To cope with this need, EFIENER proposes energy audits as a solution that responds to an Energy Efficiency Plan, to be developed on a horizon that ends with its next renewal. EFIENER bases the solutions developed on the experience acquired over 15 years in energy efficiency projects in buildings and industrial plants.
Carrying out an energy audit in a deep and rigorous way, according to the standards defined by UNE-EN 16246, and developed as an energy efficiency plan for industrial plants and buildings, fits perfectly into the concept of Energy Review required by ISO 50001:2018.
It is important to highlight that the dedication required by an energy audit carried out at this level of depth, focused on realistic improvement proposals with high added value, is not far in cost from one that only pursues the minimum compliance required: it only requires a higher level of expertise on the part of who performs it.
Thus, the added value generated by an energy audit carried out ad hoc allows the proposals derived from it to be studied as a profitable investment, with the intention of executing those that are most interesting in obtaining savings and benefits with minimal investment.
At EFIENER we want to invite our clients to raise the level of demand for energy audits, to integrate them as another basic pillar in their continuous improvement strategy, and without resorting to cost overruns.
It is essential that the objective of an energy audit is always to provide a clear vision of how it is consuming energy, and to be a concrete strategy of how to improve results, especially in those centers where energy is a significant cost.

Published the new Royal Decree 244/2019 for the regulation of self-consumption power plants
On 5th of April was published the Royal Decree 244/2019 that regulates the administrative, technical and economic terms of self-consumption power plants. Thanks to the update of the legislation, it is expected to boost the implementation of self-consumption power plants mainly based on renewable energies, particularly those plants smaller than 100 kW.
Within the changes provided by the Royal Decree, highlights the establishment of two self-consumption modalities, consisting of the production of electricity without surplus and with surplus. The former one will need the use of an anti-injection system that guarantees that there is no surplus injection to the grid, simplifying the administrative processing.
The latter modality distinguishes between self-consumption power plants in compensation regime, to which plants smaller than 100 kW will be allowed to accommodate, and in selling regime.
Boost of Industry 4.0 for the integral management of energy facilities in production plants
EFIENER ENGINYERIA continues driving Industry 4.0 as a basis for optimising utilities on production facilities, as is reflected in the number of October 2018 of the magazine Full dels Enginyers. The integration of the management of the production of industrial plants to allow a better adaptation to demand and allocating resources available as well as possible, is to ensure an efficient operation at any duty point.
To this end, EFIENER bases its projects, from the early stages of design, on ensuring complete capacity adjustment of utilities, key in the complete lifecycle of an industrial plant, as they range from the control systems to the electrical systems, heating, cooling or compressed air, lowering the cost of energy at any production capacity.

The Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda will spend in 2017 a total of 221,8 million euros to energy efficiency programmes
As part of the second call for aids to improve energy efficiency managed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), in the following weeks a call for aids will be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) aimed at the construction (125,6 million euros) and industry (63,7 million euros). In addition, have been already published in the BOE programmes for aids to the public lighting (28,7 million euros) and transport (3,7 million euros).
These programmes for aids are part of the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency 2014-2020, which encourages particular actions to make a reality the energy saving potential existing in these sectors.
The budget for these programmes comes from the National Energy Efficiency Fund and can be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the Sustainable Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020.
Approved the Royal Decree of transposition of the European Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU in terms of energy audits
The Council of Ministers has approved the Royal Decree of transposition of the Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU in terms of energy audits, promotion of an efficient use of the energy and accreditation of energy auditors and providers of energy services.
This Royal Decree establishes the obligation to carry out energy audits in large-sized enterprises, those which employ more than 250 persons or have an annual turnover exceeding EUR 50 million.
These energy audits shall include at least the 85% of the total energy consumption of the facilities, and must be carried out at least every four years. It is estimated that this measure will be applied to about 3.800 enterprises in Spain, with about 27.000 establishments.
Large-sized enterprises must carry out an energy audit in a period of nine months, although they shall be exempted from this requirement if they implement an energy management system according to ISO 50001.
EFIENER, as a company specialized in energy efficiency in industrial facilities and buildings, has a large team of qualified auditors with a high level of expertise in carrying out energy audits in large-sized enterprises, as well in implementing energy management systems according to ISO 50001.
